Bike Mishaps and Dinner
Andi sat on a chair, leaned back on two legs and rested against the wall. She looked at the empty bays and sighed, none of the guys were even here. She figured they'd all gone to hide at home. She looked up when the door opened creakily and smiled faintly as Jo entered. "Hey Slayer, what's up?" She waved at the blonde, who waved back. "Nothing much Andi, what's up with you?" Jo spoke with a faint smile.

The term for Matthew right now was disgruntled. He had trekked a long way and that whole meeting with Darian still played heavily on his mind. Of course he had stopped by his motel room to grab a change of clothes before heading out again. He was just outside of the repair shop that he knew Andi worked out, bike handles in both hands as he pushed it along. He paused for a moment and knocked on the door with one hand whilst steadying the bike with the other.

Andi and Jo both looked at the door. Who knocked on a public building these days? Andi got up and opened the door to see Matt with his once again disabled bike in tow. "What happened to you?" She looked over it, noting the oil all over the place and looking back at Jo. "Can you hit the button to open the bay door?" Jo nodded and hit said button with a smile, she'd seen Matthew over Andi's shoulder.

"Real bad night." Matthew answered Andi before he shook his head. "I really have no idea, she was running fine then a couple hours ago. She springs an oil leak." He let out an exasperated sigh. He loved this bike and he hated when something was wrong with it. He pushed the bike into the repair shop. His eyes then lifted to Jo and he gave her a warm, genuine smile.

Andi nodded, taking the bike from Matt and watching the silent interaction between Watcher and Slayer. Cute. "I'll look it over, you can go in the office with Jo if you want. Could get ugly in here."

Jo smiled back at Matthew and gesture to the office door before going in. She dropped into a chair with a sigh. Apparently, this place was bad for motorcycles.

Matthew nodded his head. "Thanks Andi." With that, he followed after Jo. His eyes followed her movement before he grabbed the seat next to her but not before he kissed her cheek." Seeing you here was a nice surprise."

Andi set to work on the bike as the pair wandered off. Jo reached over and hugged Matthew as he sat down. "I didn't really expect to see you here either. Bad luck for your bike, but nice for me and work for Andi." She smiled and touched his face lightly. "Hope you're ok, not hurt, right?"

"Nah not hurt." Matthew answered, moving a hand to grip at hers. "You doing okay?" He remembered this entire situation with the darkness and zombies had freaked Jo out.

Jo squeezed his hand lightly and shook her head slightly. "I'm learning to deal. I got a cooler full of possessed guys though.. when are we going to figure out how to get whatever's in them out?"

Matthew lifted an eyebrow. "A cooler full of possessed guys?" He then shook his head and exhaled a slow breath. "I think us Watcher types need to get together, pool our resources and then us plus you, the Slayer types can go kick some big bad's ass and we can get the sun back. Sunburn and all."

Jo shrugged and made a face as if to say, 'I know as much as you do.' before answering his suggestion, "Sounds like a great idea to me. My tan is fading!" She was kidding about the tan, but you know.. laugh or you'll cry.

Matthew played along, gasping softly before he leaned in to peer at her neck and nodded his head. "Yes, I can clearly see where your tan is fading." His warm breath washed over the skin of her neck as he talked there and pretended to look at loss of tan on other parts of her neck.

Jo shivered as she chuckled at Matthew's humorous playing along. She reached up and ran a hand through his hair slowly. "Silly Watcher, but very cute." She leaned back a little, resting her head on the wall.

"Cute is good or so I'm told." Matthew answered, simply placing a kiss to the side of her neck before drawing away. Arching one eyebrow as he tipped his head at her.

Jo let her eyes slide closed, it had been a damn long day for them both, she was sure. She found his hand again and just held it quietly as she reflected on everything going on. "So what happened out there to bring you here?"

Matthew linked his fingers with hers, giving her hand a brief squeeze. "I was on my way back from the bar. Long shift, a whole lot of trouble. My bike ground to a halt and low and behold, it's an oil leak. Had to push it all the way back to Searchlight."

Jo frowned faintly as she listened to his story. That didn't exactly add up, a simple oil leak shouldn't cause complete failure to run. "I'm sure Andi will figure it out and fix it up for you." Her doubt remained unvoiced though, no reason to think he was lying. Just reason to think he'd been played.

"Hopefully so. This town seems to hate my bike." He muttered wearily as he leaned forward in his seat slightly. His free hand went to his hair.

Jo traded hands and used her now free one to rub his back lightly. "Want a ride home? I'll take you and then Andi and I can bring you the bike whenever it's fixed."

Matthew smiled as he looked to Jo. "A ride home would be great." He said with a hint of a smile, his blue eyes glittering slightly as he looked at her.

Jo nodded, pushing up out of her chair. "I'll let Andi know, and the truck is parked 'round back in the alley." She smiled, leaning to kiss the top of his head lightly before going into the service area. "Hey Andi, I'm gonna take Matthew home. You'll be cool here, right?"

Andi looked up from the now completely dismantled engine and nodded. "Yeah, I'll be fine. He's gonna need something else to get around on though, this is going to take a few days."

Matthew closed his eyes at the kiss to the top of his head before he stood slowly and resisted the urge to look back into the service area. He didn't want to see his bike in pieces. He sighed softly and yawned as he linked his hands together and rested them against the back of his neck.

Jo shook her head faintly at Andi and sighed. "That sucks. I'll loan him my truck I suppose. I can borrow Claire's bike and she can go 'round with Nyx." She waved at the mechanic and went back into the office. "Come on Matthew, let's get out of here." She pulled him up and out the front door to the alley where she unlocked the passenger door and then went around to the driver's side and got in.

He slipped into the passenger side, pulling the door shut after him. He sank back into his seat and clipped his seatbelt into place, his long legs extended out in front of him and he glanced over to Jo.

Jo started the engine, filling the alley with a low rumbling noise. The lights came on, washing the space with bright light and scaring off several small animals. "I'm gonna loan you the truck. Be a few days for your bike." Her voice was soft as she threw it in gear and started off. "Do you want to come over to my place for a little while and then take the truck when you leave?"

"Yeah, that would be great. I think if I see the walls of my motel room anytime soon. I'm going to go crazy." Matthew commented all too seriously, his one arm lifted to rest against the door and the other remained at his side. "And besides, I'd like to spend some time with you."

Jo nodded, her hands busy at the gear shift and on the wheel. "Not a problem, I totally understand." She smiled warmly and before too long, they pulled up and parked at the curb in front of the apartment she shared with Claire. Who was, as usual, completely absent.

Matthew slipped out of his side of the truck. Shutting the door behind him once more before his hands slipped into the back pockets of his pants. His eyes looked back over his shoulder just in case.

Jo jogged up the stairs and keyed the door to let them both in. Once Matthew had entered, she close the door and locked it back up. After that, she went to the kitchen, "Want something to put in your belly?"

"You read my mind." Matthew commented with a warm chuckle. He then trailed after her before he stopped at the doorway leading into the kitchen. He took a moment or two to admire her before he simply gestured. "I'll get out of your hair, unless there's something I can do to help?"

Jo turned around and smiled with a shrug. "Depends what you want in your belly, is it food, drink or both?" She turned, opening the fridge so he could see what was available. That was pretty much everything, she'd gone major shopping just before the stores had started closing down.

Matthew at this point looked thoughtful. "Both I think. I haven't really eaten today." He admitted with a sheepish expression, he had been too busy reading and getting ready for work to think about food.

Jo laughed, pretending to smack him upside the head before handing him a can of soda. "Siddown, we'll just do something simple." She smiled and got out some leftover chicken and spinach ravioli. She put it in a pair of bowls and drizzled the garlic cream sauce over the top before nuking them for 30 seconds.

Matthew chuckled softly, taking the can of soda. He then crept up behind her and kissed her cheek. "What would I do without you?" He asked in a whisper before he turned and vanished back out of the kitchen. Grabbing a seat as she had told him to.

Jo twitched slightly as she was kissed and whispered to, but before she could answer, he was gone. She smiled and took the bowls from the microwave, sprinkling a little cheese over each and adding a fork. She grabbed a soda for herself and followed Matthew, hanging him his meal. "Enjoy that." She smiled and winked before sitting and starting on her own.

"I plan to." Matthew commented, before he placed his soda down and picked up the fork. He then began to eat, letting his body relax into the chair he was sat in. "This is very nice, thanks Jo." He commented with a brief smile before he continuing eating.

"You're very welcome Matthew." Jo smiled and fell to eating her own in relative silence. Every now and then, she took a sip from her soda. But mostly she concentrated on the food and glances at the Watcher she was lucky enough to call partner.

Matthew finished off his food in a comfortable silence. He hadn't met many people he could share that with but Jo seemed to be one of the people he could. He placed his bowl down and took a sip from his soda. "Well, that certainly hit the spot."

Jo smiled as she finished hers off a second after him. She took both bowls and the silverware and set them in the sink to be filled with water for later washing. She went back and didn't ask, just settled into his lap quietly. "Good." She kissed the side of his neck lightly.

Matthew shivered just a little at the soft kiss to the side of his neck. His arms soon wrapped around her as he pulled her closer to him. His hand went to stroke through her hair very slowly.

Jo smiled as the shiver ran through Matthew's body and she wrapped her arms around his neck lightly. "Last time we were in a similar position, things heated up fast." She smiled against his cheek as she teased him a bit.

He laughed softly. "Ah yes I distinctly remember that." He turned his head to press a kiss to her forehead, his hand stilling in her hair. Simply tangling a few strands of his fingers so he could feel the texture of it against his skin.

Jo smiled again, lifting her head a little so she could kiss his lips. "We should be careful not to do that again." She was gentle with the statement, stroking his face slowly. "Just so we don't ruin anything here."

He nodded his head slowly, ignoring the warm flush that seemed to creep into his cheeks as Jo kissed him. "Yes, we wouldn't want to do that now would we?" He asked as his eyes came to rest on hers. His breath was taken away for a moment as he looked at her. He briefly wondered how he had gotten so lucky.

Jo held Matthew's eyes for a moment and smiled, letting her fingers slip down his cheek and come to rest on his neck. "Not at all." She laid her hand back down on his shoulder and just soaked in the feel of him there.

Matthew smiled as he wrapped both his arms around her again, drawing her closer once more. "You're beautiful Jo." He murmured in her ear softly as he simply enjoyed the feel of her in his arms.

So Matthew has my truck, I have Claire's bike and Claire's stuck with Nyx, not that I think she minds. Ha! She's such a dork, and never here, either. I'm really enjoying getting to know Matthew bit by bit, and I just hope Andi can do her deal with his bike, cause that doesn't seem like a random something broke sort of deal to me.
