Yellow eyes glowed in the dark as the beast moved with a stealthy yet lumbered gait through the darkness. Red skies stretched out in the expanse above it, hot winds blew in it's face as the beast snarled, sharpened fangs protruding from the mouth of it's elongated snout. Sustenance had been scarce, as most of whatever was left of the human population had retreated underground when the darkness hit, leaving the beast to wander and forage in the shadows alone. Yet, despite it being as hungry as it were, there were much larger things which hid among the blackness of the night, hunting the hunter as it were; the beast, albeit ferocious in it's own right, was still prey to beings much larger than itself. Hind flanks moved faster as claws dug into putrid earth, lungs took in the stench of sulfur and the beast moved faster towards the horizon. In the distance, a crackle of electricity scattered and the beast stopped it's canter. Questioningly, it moved forward, as the disturbance up ahead became more frenzied. A canine which once bore the semblance of a human male, had within it's skull the brain of such a being which this body had long since forgotten. Curiosity overwhelmed it, and the creature moved forward towards the static. The small disturbance grew larger, and became a rift. Unable to pull itself away, the creature had been sucked towards it, claws digging feverishly into the ground to take hold. It had been a mistake, to investigate this strange sight, as the beast was then pulled into the static in a tumultuous jolt which flung it straight through to the other side.
Julie had decided to go out for a hike in the hills above Searchlight. She'd always been a nature lover and it was nice to get out into it without having to worry about THE CHANGE for a change. It was a bit chilly, but a leather jacket and a scarf took care of that.
It was a good place to come and think about things. Julie needed to get her head straightened out, think about what she was going to tell her family about the last three years. Once Judah went back to 1900 she was going to call home and see if she still had a family to go home to. God only knew what they must think after all this time.
An odd humming noise roused her out of her thoughts. She looked around in confusion, but there was nothing to be seen and no smells out of the ordinary. Weird
