Affirmations. [12 Nov 2006|03:30am]
A chill November wind whipped around Elian's broad shoulders as he stood on the sidewalk in front of the Mirage, leaves which had yellowed with the season blowing past his feet as he observed the fountain show in front of him. It seemed so lackluster and boring, as though the very sight of a mock volcano spewing water colored red by lights was incredibly tacky and overdone.

But he stopped to watch anyway, as if the sound of the music and the blasting of water was hypnotic. He'd seen it a million times before, but he'd been incredibly bored with nothing better to do. His mind had been too preoccupied anyway, and even though he stood amongst the crowd of tourists gawking at spraying water, he was disconnected and thoughtful.

What had been a series of weeks of feverish brain-wracking trying to answer any sort of question about who he was had taken a turn in a completely new direction. Something had known him, from the past, and that very something had appeared out of thin air. But whatever Lorne was, Elian had never seen anything like that before. A man with green skin. And horns. He was totally and completely from out of this world. Which posed the new question: If Elian had supposedly known him, did that too, mean he wasn't from this world?

None of any of this stuff made sense to him. Men didn't have horns. There were no such thing as, well, those. Or were there?

Exactly what kind of world did Elian wake up in? That was the thought that had plagued his mind since Lorne had disappeared. Was he not seeing the grand picture?

However, the only thing he saw now was a gaudy lightshow in a poorly lit fountain. With his arms folded across his chest, Elian continued to stare thoughtfully into the spraying water as the tourists around him oo'ed and ahhh'd.

Leigh ambled along, weaving her way through the tourists until she saw a familiar set of broad shoulders, their owner staring through the volcano water display blankly. She stepped up alongside Eli and bumped his hip with her own lightly before stepping away again.

Respect the personal space? Maybe, perhaps she just wanted to watch him whip around to see who had touched him in such a familiar way. To be honest, the red headed vampire had no idea if he'd even remember her, after all, he seemed to have trouble with remembering his history.

Though he also said everything over the past month had been crystal clear and easily remembered, so maybe. She guessed she would find out as she bumped him again and spoke this time, "Hey Eli, long time no see." Though it had been what, a week, a week and a half tops?
