Bittersweet [06 Nov 2006|04:57pm]
[ mood | melancholy ]
[ music | Here's To The Night - Eve 6 ]

Boden could tell they were getting closer, that prickle across the back of his neck told him so. He’d always been able to tell, always known when they were getting close – too close, when he should run and when he should look over his shoulder.

Before Vegas and before Searchlight leaving had been simple, he’d just pack up his things and go but now there was Mallory and after everything he figured he owed her a goodbye, and most of all - an explanation.

Finding his way to Mallory’s trailer was easy, was always easy but knocking on her door was anything but easy. He had nothing with him, no luggage to carry but he did have plane tickets in his coat pocket.

Tuffy turned out not to mind riding in the truck so much, but the vet was a different story. That probably had a lot to do with the shots, though, and there were apparently going to be more where those came from. Mallory fixed the dog a makeshift bed in the living room, offering him a rawhide chew as a reward. He sniffed at it, then finally deigned to give it a nibble.

The knock was a sudden distraction, and the redhead called, "Just a sec, I'll be right there," before giving Tuffy a sympathetic scratch behind the ears and wandering to the door to answer it.

"Boden, hey." Her expression brightened, and she stood aside a bit to add, "C'mon in, I was just about to fix something to eat. The dog's in kind of a mood, but after I feed him he'll feel better. Want a glass of water?"

"Be safe, Boden," she said, knowing it was unnecessary, because fighting, protecting himself, was something he did very well. One of her hands intertwined with one of his, the two of them simply resting together in the new twilight.

Making a memory for both of them to hang onto.

Seduction Aplenty [06 Nov 2006|07:22pm]
(Continued From Here)

Welcome, indeed. The witch did not take her gaze from Jo's eyes. Walking quite successfully straight into the rather secretive bedroom with slow, deliberate steps backwards.

She wasn't sure why, but the thought of looking anywhere else seemed ridiculous. Maybe there was a hidden doubt that if eye contact broke, the moment would be lost. Whatever it was, it was enthralling.

Free hand landed quite tenderly against the Slayer's hip. As booted feet stopped, that hand drew the woman in closer until bodies were touching, face's just millimeters apart.

Then, in a whisper, "We hope you enjoy your stay…"

Aftermath [06 Nov 2006|11:33pm]
[ mood | indescribable ]

Jo had gotten out of the bed following the amazing night spent with a vampire and a witch and had let herself out silently. The starburst ornament was missing from in front of her right ear, she had absolutely no idea where it had gone.

She tugged the metal piece off her left eyebrow and rubbed at the spot where it had pulled hairs, then rubbed the bridge of her nose with a sigh as she made her way out of the club and onto the street to hail a cab. She knew people were looking at her, her hair was a messy ponytail, the black and silver body suit was rather rumpled and she had a wicked headache that was making her eyes cross.

She really did not care though. She just wanted to get back to her truck and home to the Lighthouse and her own bed where she could sleep off the experience properly. Sharing with two other people was nice, but only for so long before a hand wound up in the wrong place, or an icy foot touched bare skin.

Several hours, a nap, shower and change of clothes later, the Slayer emerged from the apartment above the Searchlight bar to work a partial shift behind the counter. It was surprisingly busy for an early November evening, but she jumped with it and served everyone as quickly as possible.

Crushing The Life From Her )

Jo lifted her chin to the vampire in a final salute for a good fight as the stake found its mark and was removed again to prevent it going to dust along with the body whose unlife it had just ended.

She brushed off her hands on her pants and shook herself, her breath rasping and whistling slightly in her throat as she limped off, victorious and feeling somewhat assuaged in her guilt towards letting another of their kind feed from her.
