Parallels. [10 Oct 2006|06:46pm]
There was one thing lately that bothered Levi more than anything, and that was a good old fashioned murder investigation.

Man is mysteriously killed, and the one person who loves him more than anythig in the whole world is the one who finds him - his daughter - and her entire world crumbles beneathe her feet. The scenario was incredibly too familiar to the cop, who not recently went through the whole entire thing himself. Only in the end, Levi had ended up a twisted and empty shell of his former self. The murder of his wife took nearly 8 years to solve, and he hoped for Chloe's sake, he could put a lid on her case in a much quicker time.

He woke up a bit earlier this afternoon. He made it a point to go and see Miss Reed before he went into the station, mainly because she lived on the way to work. He felt obligated to inform her of all his findings on the case, but somehow inside his mind also felt, due to the parallels in both their situations, that he should make a visit on a more personal level.

He drove his black pickup truck wearing his freshly pressed uniform down the freeway and pointed the vehicle in the general direction of her house. When he arrived at the small suburban home, he hopped out of his truck and quickly paced towards the front door, rapping on the wood with his solid knuckles.

Chloe was in a familiar spot. She was sitting on her back porch step. The newspaper lay at her feet, unread, and she sat with her knees bent on the stair with the warm coffee cup clutched in both of her hands. It took her a moment to register the knocking at her door.

She frowned. No one ever called on her. Who could it be? She stood up and peered around the side of the house. She could see the black truck in the yard but didn't recognize it. She set her coffee cup on a little porch table, slipped on her flip flops, and went back inside the house. "Just a minute."

Since when do asshole cops make personal house calls? )

He lowered his hand after he offered her another smile, the corners of his mouth perking ever so slightly. He inclined his head politely before he stepped out the door. He turned around back to her, pulling off the sunglasses which hung from the collar of his shirt and replacing them over his dark eyes.

"Thanks for the coffee," he said to her with a smile before he turned to walk back towards his truck.
