(Note, this scene takes place before 'Drinks On Me')
Having dropped Meredith off in Searchlight per her request, Grace drove back to Vegas in a distinctly calmer mood. She'd just be able to make her hotel before the first weak rays of sunlight peeked over the horizon, then sleep for the day to rest up. The car would need to be gone over, any telltale signs of what she'd just used it for cleaned up, but she could do that later.
She reached the city at last, then left the car in the hotel's covered parking deck. A hot bath, then she'd bag up her bloodstained pants and get rid of them. All in a night's work.
The service elevator dinged, signaling arrival at her floor, and Grace poked her head into the silent hall before making tracks for her room. Final clean-up called, then bed.
She was utterly and thoroughly fucked up the ass with a nine-inch vibrating dildo.
And Deanna didn’t do anal. Her list of don'ts was about the size of her pinky finger, and that little bon mot was engraved on her nail.
The first rays of ultraviolet had broken through the bed sheets of night and the city was waking up. Curls of light crept under the occasional hotel door. The redhead sandwiched herself into a corner and crouched. All it took was an eighty-year old blithely swinging out of their room for the early-bird special and the maids would have an unexpected pile of dust to vacuum.
She almost gave up at five, but according to Katherine's timetable, Grace had maybe twenty-four hours to hit city limits or the pissing war began in earnest. With Deanna's frame stuck firmly in the middle.
"Jeez, she'd better not be making time with that watcher tonight or I'll kill Grace myself," she groused in a low monotone.
The hall was almost eerily silent as Grace closed in on her own room, but the sensation of another presence close by had her glancing around, just in case. It was just past dawn, she wasn't safe yet. And God, but she stank. Blood made one fuck of an aroma before it dried.
"Deanna?" she asked with an eyebrow lift when she recognized that familiar redhead hunkered into a corner, trying to avoid the rapidly encroaching beams of light, no matter how thin. "Not that its not great to see you and all, but..."
She gestured towards the outside, then indicated her own door. "C'mon in. You caught me just as I was about to crash. Soon as I grab a bath, anyway." Her key card was produced. "What're you doin' out here in the wee hours, anyhow?"
"Waiting for you."
Her nostrils flared as soon as the elevator doors opened. A mixture of Grace's scent and... oh fuck. Was she off on the timing? Deanna'd pushed off this meeting as long as she could, hoped that the two would find some alternative. A detente.
No. The blood was human. Not that it couldn't have been ingested by the brunette and spilled during battle. But there was too much of it. A killing blow and Grace would've been smudged with soot as well.
And Honestly? Deanna'd fought alongside Katherine. Taken down a roomful of bastitches with guns. Grace would've needed a severely lucky shot to take her down.
"We've gotta talk. Well I'm gonna talk, you'll interrupt several times. I'll growl and you'll probably go quiet for a bit until I'm done, then you'll throw out a few justifications." Deanna stood and cracked her neck. The tension wasn't just confined to her limbs. "And hopefully what I say gets through and ... well fuck, I dunno."
The door swung open, and Grace stepped inside, simply listening. She turned on one light, noting that the heavy curtains were still closed. "Hope you don't mind if I take my pants off whole you talk," she said, knowing the other vampire had to have smelled her already. "I feel like I need to go through a car wash or somethin'."
She took her boots off, and then her belt buckle rattled as she headed towards the bathroom. Some of it had soaked through, she could feel it on her skin. The water started to run into the large tub.
"Go ahead," she called to Deanna over her shoulder, standing on the tiled floor in nothing but a shirt and socks. "I'm listenin'."
