Paying it forward. [01 Nov 2005|04:54pm]
Meredith was an observer.

It was something she had always done well.

In the back corner of the Greenroom, she sat, and she watched. Demons socialized with humans, vampires mingled but did not feed. It would be a puzzling thing to Meredith, had she not known about the so-called sanctuary spell that was supposedly cast on this place, more or less forcing these beings to co-exist underneathe the same roof without killing each other.

A waitress had brought her a gin and tonic, and Meredith quietly watched various partrons take the stage all night. She had no desire of her own to make an appearance in the limelight, because she had no need of the services inwhich the curator was offering. The man himself, which Meredith had assumed to be the rather flamboyant green skinned character, was the only one around here with any talent, and she was grateful for his performances which punctuated the rest of the crap being belted out by the patrons.

The night had progressed smoothely, and Meredith found that she was glad that she had come here, because despite the lull of entertainment around the city, this place was lively enough for her. When it rounded out to around 2:30 in the morning, she became weary and decided to pack it in after the owner had finished his wonderful rehashing of an old Stevie Wonder song.

As Meredith downed the last of her drink, she caught the sight of a woman enter the club from the far doors. Almost instinctually, Meredith knew she was a vampire, but nevertheless, she watched her cross the club and meet up at the bar with the owner. A keen and yet curious eye, she watched as the two of them spoke to one another. Their conversation seemed halted and awkward, as though they had met for the first time. Meredith could tell the demon did not seem to care that his customer was a vampire, and it appeared to her that he was trying to coerce a performance out of her.

"What type of destiny lies in wait for this broad?" Meredith thought to herself, a wry smirk crossing her face. Most soulless beings of evil didn't sport a very reputable resume of god karma, and Meredith entertained the idea of playing it forward for her. But instead, she continued to watch, and then to listen as the sound of Blondie filled the club.

Nothing like Blondie to instill fear in your hearts. )

Hi, i'm your savior. Who the hell are you? )

Standing up to The Man. )

The Greenroom was in ruins, but Lorne was thankful to have escaped with his life. Whatever it was that the nameless brunette had done had saved both of their hides. As they ran out the back door, into the alley, and down an adjacent street, he knew if she hadn't been there, he would surely have been dead.
