By the time Kael had woken, he had been literally dragged to his feet and had a work tool shoved into his hand. He wondered if their would be captors had any idea about how long a human body could go in the hot baking sun without water and judging by the people collapsing, he figured not or they did and they just didn't care. Work till you drop, that had to be the message here and Kael knew all about that. He'd spend hours in his workshop working without food or water for days until whatever he was making was complete so he was a little more adjusted to this pace than everyone else.
Just as he turned his head, his eyes narrowed in on a young girl being mishandled by one of the demons. Kael's hands instinctively tightened around his pickaxe as the girl couldn't have been any older than his youngest sister. He could feel eyes on his back and he knew they belonged to Joseph, the man had taken to looking out for Kael given his head injury and general confusion as to where they were. Kael's eyes however were glued on the girl and demon as he flung her around like she was nothing but the very last straw to Kael was when the demon lifted a hand to strike the girl down.
That was really his last breaking point and without thinking, Kael tightened his grip on his pickaxe and he strode the distance seperating him from the demon itself. Kael was far from being a small man, he had broad shoulders, long arms and a physique that most men would envy. The physique kept in shape by long arduous hours slaving over a weapon of some sort and maintained by healthy living. So to be grabbed and pulled away by the man in question was not something to take lightly, "Leave her alone and try picking on someone your own size."
"Watch your tongue, human." The demon hissed before it narrowed his eyes, "Move now."
Kael tightened his grip on the pickaxe he held in his one hand and he met the demon's narrowed gaze. "Make me." He stated very simply. Kael was very aware of how self destructive and suicidal this action happened to be but he really wouldn't stand for what he had just been about to witness.
The demon growled and promptly delivered a punch to Kael's face which knocked him back a few steps but in spite of the pain, he brought his own fist up and hit the demon in the stomach. The demon snarled and brought a knee up to force the air from Kael's chest and then wrenched the tool from Kael's hand before Kael decided to use it against him.
"Mias van Dios," The words escaped Joseph without so much as a second thought as he watched as the scene unfolded in front of him. His work completely forgotten in favour of watching as Kael faced off against one of their demon captors. He moved to help but a look from Kael stopped him right in his tracks, the other man seemed to be telling him no even as he struggled.
Kael was forced to his knees but he still fought even if his hits seemed to have little to no effect. "Pathetic," The demon snarled as he brought his hand across Kael's face and split Kael's lip wide open. Blood ran from the cut down over his chin and trailed over the length of his neck before disappearing beneath the t-shirt he wore. "Time you set an example."
With that said, the demon sent a sudden voltage through Kael's body and smirked as Kael dropped to the ground and his body jerked much against his own will. The pain was extraordinary and Kael wasn't sure if this pain could in any way compare to the pain he had felt in the past. In the very back of his mind, he vaguely registered that the pain was just as bad and possibly worst than the pain caused by that car accident when he was younger.
Before he had a chance to recover from that, the demon was dragging him across the sand and just before he lost consciousness, he heard Joseph's voice calling his name.

How long since she had last seen her brother? Several days and Olivia was now worried.
Kael always stopped by at least once a day when their mother was out just to check in but he hadn't been around and he wasn't answering his phone. Something inside of her told her that something was wrong, call it sisterly intuition if you will but she had to see her brother. Her mother hadn't noticed his absence but she was so wrapped up in her own little world and her own self righteousness that she didn't see much beyond the end of her nose.
Olivia slipped her denim jacket on over her arms and left the family home as she made her way through Searchlight. She'd start with Kael's new apartment and if he wasn't there, she'd head to the shop as she knew if he wasn't home, he'd be there. Another trait he had picked up from the father, the workaholic mentality which sometimes got the better of them.
She focused on thinking good positive thoughts and tried to tell her worries that they were nothing and that they'd be proven wrong but the churning in the pit of her stomach told her otherwise.
Good thoughts, happy thoughts, Olivia!
