Missing Slayers [15 Nov 2004|01:14am]
[ mood | aggravated ]

Nyx called me. He let me know that Gwen is indeed still alive and kicking, at least she is according to Connor. She'd gone missing on me, yet again. I think it's about time I find her and try and put some sense in that hot head of hers.

I'm mildly irritated, I should be angry or something.. but I haven't had a chance to get to know the kid well enough or train with her hardly at all. This wasn't an assignement, I chose to go into this with her. She chose to go into this with me.

Andi has been quiet, down in the dumps and not training, not studying, not planning her party. She was all excited about it for a minute, but now she doesn't seem to have any interest in anything at all. Not even mechanics, which is her one true love.

The hour was late. Quite late, actually. I mean, really... on an uneventful night, who the hell goes patrolling at 1 in the morning? Well, our girl Gwen did, that's who. Stake in hand, sword strapped across her thin back, she slowly made her way towards a back alley, behind one of the town's small shops, where she had heard of a number of vampire 'get-togethers' going down. Looking rather deadly in her baggy camo slacks, combat boots, black blouse, and long black duster, she quietly tiptoed to where she could see the surrounds without being seen herself.

And following our heroine was Connor, who could make an extremely effective stalker when he needed to. Currently, he needed to, what with Gwen gone 'round the bend and all. One thing about growing up in a hell dimension? When you didn't want to be detected you weren't. Basically, he was hoping that she'd just not try to pull anything overly suicidal. But he knew where they were headed, and he was doubting he'd be so lucky tonight.

So Gwen's gone off the deep end and is heading really quick-like into 'psycho' territory. I really hope we can avoid that. Me n Dawn don't have enough friends to just let one go all nuts and get herself killed. Especially by her own recklessness. So...I've been stalking her. At night anyways, I took a few days off of work and have been tailing her. She's been ok if not erratic and angry all the time, and she's been sleeping on the streets. Which means I don't get home till it's after sunrise and vamps can't jump her while she's sleeping. I'm not about to let her get caught unawares and killed. I've taken out a few vamps while keeping watch when she finally does crash. This has got to stop. I can't follow her around for the rest of her life, hoping she doesn't try something stupid when I'm finally catching up on my sleep. I can go for quite a while without it, something I had to learn in Quor-toth, but that doesn't mean I like having to do it. I don't like leaving Dawn alone that long either, but...well right now, this just has to be done.

Last night she practically pummeled a vamp to death with her fists, then got pissed at me for staking it after I finally stopped her, then proceeded to ask me if this was just a ploy to get into her pants. Which...where the hell did that come from? Yeah, I'm really following her around so that I can fuck her. I practically have 'Property of Dawn Summers' stamped on my forehead. Though it proves one thing. The girl doesn't know how to just trust someone. And I remember what that was like. The not being able to trust anyone around you, even the people you liked thing. It fucking sucked and I'm glad I got over it at least a little.

But that's not the whole problem. I wish she'd just...stop this. Quit with the self destructive bullshit and talk to someone. Probably not me, I'm not good at that stuff. I'd probably do more harm than good. (and lets take a good look at my past, oh yeah, I went completely psycho and nearly killed a bunch of people. let's not leave that out, shall we? I'm so very not the best candidate) But Dawn...she's good at this stuff. She's done whole worlds of good for me.(not that I'm about to start sharing.) Or maybe Gwen would just trust a girl more or something. I can't exactly stick up much for my part of the species(yes, I'm counting myself as human.), in just wandering the country doing the fighting evil thing, I've stopped enough rapes to have lost count. Stopped some murders, so on and so forth. Whatever. I don't care who she talks to, as long as it helps.

Morning [15 Nov 2004|03:40am]
[ mood | tired ]
[ music | Need to Destroy by THC ]

Connor trudged up to the duplex as morning light was doing it's best to blind him. It was working. He squinted his tired eyes at it and was thankful for the din of the front entryway as he got home. He sighed. He was tired. He was worried. He was missing Dawn. All this rolled into one made for an unhappy Destroyer. He got inside, shutting the door behind himself, and he kicked off his boots, wanting to just fall over.

Dawn was sprawled out on the sofa, her laptop still running, some Bloodhoung Gang song playing as various books were piled next to it. Her wavy hair shaded her eyes, breathing deep and even as she mumbled in her sleep, curling up while clad in that wine coloured robe.

Connor spotted her there and smiled softly. He silently made his way over, shutting her laptop as quietly as possible, and he leaned over her, reaching out to brush the hair away from her face. He wasn't sure if he wanted to wake her or just let her sleep there or carry her to their room. Maybe he'd just join her. But he took the moment to just watch her sleeping. God, I love you. he thought to himself.

Dawn didn't seem to be having a very peaceful sleep, frowning softly as she murmured and shifted a little in her sleep. She was also pretty warm to the touch as before, though not scorchingly so. Perhaps feverish, though she wasn't flushed or otherwise displaying any symptons of illness.

He sighed. Troubled sleep, that meant waking her. He leaned over to kiss her forehead. "Dawn," he whispered, brushing the backs of his fingers over her cheek. "Wake up, Sunshine."

Destiny [15 Nov 2004|01:49pm]
[ mood | determined ]

Kris was still limping from her fall down the hill but tonight was the night and her Watcher needed her. So even with her limp and damaged body, she was by his side. She had her sword sheathed across her back and her stakes and knives were stored in several of her pockets. Her clothes were dark and so she blended nicely in with the night around her. Her brown eyes swept from side to side as she wandered down the street, looking for any sign of Emily or vampires in general.

Dominick held his beloved crossbow in front of him, and his pockets were stuffed with stakes. His eyes were wary as he scanned the landscape. He knew Kris was hurting from the other night, and he felt wretched about needing her at this time. He vowed to himself that he'd make it up to her, sometime, somehow.

As they neared a corner, Kris paused and tipped her head to one side as she felt the familiar tingles spread through her. The movement around the corner was light and quick, couldn't be a fully grown vampire. She glanced over her shoulder and nodded in the right direction, indicating that she was there.

Emily danced from one foot to the other, peering between two garbage cans. She was mad that the slayer was there. Her eyes narrowed. That was the one that had killed her sire. Emily had wanted to talk to Dominick alone. He wouldn't come out of his house alone, and he never had invited her in. Emily was getting desperate. She knew she'd have to take advantage of this situation.

Dominick saw Kris's gesture and swallowed the lump in his throat. He aimed the crossbow in the direction she had indicated, squinting in the darkness. He didn't see anyone yet, but he knew she had to be there. He could almost feel it, on some level. His hands were steady on his weapon.

Kris had not survived alone and as a Slayer for as long as she had without learning a thing or two. She wasn't about to let a vampire in the guise of a child beat her. She flattened her back against the wall before she simply turned around the corner, one knife found its way to her hand and soon sunk into the metal of the nearby trashcans. She then glanced to Dominick and gestured for him to follow her, they had to draw Emily out.

Kris was right where she had been for the last three, maybe five hours. She had lost track. A head injury would do that for a person. The dagger rested in the sand beside her, its blade was still a bright shade of green and Kris was oddly satisfied she had at least done some damage. She was cold and not in the best of moods. Not to mention the fact she was very confused as to why she had sleptwalked. Was it to stop that demon from doing something? And if so, who had talked to her and brought her here? With a groan, she sat up and rubbed her hands over her face. Her eyes peered out from between the small cracks. "You know what? I actually slept before I came here." She was talking mostly to the mines at this point. Maybe it was time for her to start moving? Yeah, definitely if she was talking mines of all things.

Just behind the frantically wagging tail of Eddy, Hayden made his way up the first hill on the east side of town. The slope was a mixture of sand and rocks, and his sturdy boots gripped the terrain. Apparently, he couldn't move fast enough for the dog, who kept circling around to bark at him. Hayden didn't need encouragement to move quickly. He'd been running since Eddy had woken him up a quarter-hour earlier, howling on the street below Hayden's apartment.

"I think that would be asking for too much." Kris affirmed with a nod of her head before she smirked. She then looped an arm around his shoulders and aided in the removal of herself from the car. "Good thing I heal fast."

Hayden kicked the Jeep door behind them and headed for the apartment door. He shifted her in his arms to fit the key in the knob before pushing it open and heading inside. He watched as Eddy bounded up the stairs, then looked back at Kris. "Good thing is right. Every time you hurt your ankle, the gods add five more steps to the top." With a smile, Hayden headed up the stairs after Eddy.

HomeComing [15 Nov 2004|04:04pm]
[ mood | surprised ]

------ Non Journal Entry ------

Joseph was returning from a very long day working the casinos in Vegas. His clients were happy and Joseph was now determined to rest. Being with Rhiannon had relaxed him and made him realise a few things. He had done what he had done for the good of his mother and his own sanity. And some things were best left alone and not thought about. He had regretted a lot of things in his life and he wasn't entirely sure if he wanted that time to be one of those things. He jogged up the flight of stairs which led to his apartment but he paused on the landing as he caught a familiar scent. He tipped his Stetson back as he took in the smell of musk, it couldn't be could it?

He stepped towards his door and for some reason, the feeling in his stomach began and it told him that his door was no longer locked. And as he applied pressure to the handle, his feeling was proven right once more. Joseph was slightly wary. With his list of enemies, you never could be sure especially when your once locked door was now unlocked. But any and all feelings of dread or worry he might have had were soon erased by high pitch screams and a sudden thundering of footsteps. And then six seperate arms latched around his waist, his leg and arm and he soon found himself on the floor.

There were mutterings of words, mostly his name and excited chatter. Mostly in Italian. To this, he answered back and as he lifted his dark gaze. It came to rest on the woman he had come to know as Auntie, his mother's sister Maria stood watching him with a vague look of amusement on her face. She was as always, very striking. Dark hair pulled back into a plait, a few wisps of white decorated her temples. Her light brown eyes watched Joseph as her children practically clung to him.

" Salve, Joseph."

Joseph blinked a few times before he let out a slight breath as his six year old cousin, Santo had promptly sprawled across his chest and was peering down at Joseph. The curious look in his expression reminded Joseph very much of himself at that age." Hello Auntie." He muttered as best he could from around his cousin's head. The two twin girls, Andria and Sienna were playing with the rings on his hand before moving to toy with his hair. They had certainly grown a lot since the last time he had seen them.

Maria clapped her hands together and called her children's names which caused them to hop up to their feet. Joseph was grateful for this action on her part as it allowed him to sit up slowly. As he did, he pulled a slight face and stuck his tongue out at the smaller twin girl, Sienna which made her giggle before Andria retaliated by mimicking his actions. Santo at this point simply jumped into the nearest chair to poke through the stack of magazines Joseph had on a nearby table.

" What brings you to town?" He finally asked as he looked up at his Aunt, he took in the fashionable way she was dressed and then he noticed the bump. She was pregnant again and the thought brought a slight smile to Joseph's lips. He would have yet another cousin, as if he needed anymore.

Maria sat down on the couch." Essa asked me to come and I couldn't say no to my baby sister now could I, Joseph?" After she had sat, Sienna clambered up into her lap and melted into her mother's embrace. The older woman muttered a few things to her daughter before looking back to Joseph as he got to his feet. When he was on his feet, Andria returned to his side and extended her arms upwards towards him as if to say "pick me up" which he did. His hands took a hold of her waist before he lifted her and drew her close to his side. His arms now slipped around her waist, holding her close and supporting her as he held her.

" No, I guess not." Joseph finally answered.

Maria nodded her head." We'll be in town for a bit and Joseph my dear Nephew, where are your manners? No drink for your old auntie, hey?"

Joseph at this point, smirked lightly and commented." You're not that old, Maria." But before she had a chance to say anything, Joseph had vanished into the kitchen with Andria in his arms. How did his mother know to send her sister and his cousins? How did she know, he needed family more than anything right now?

He smiled lightly and shook his head from side to side as he went about making a coffee for his Aunt. Andria was as good as gold, she didn't squirm or fidget as he did this. She merely watched his actions with a fascination of a two year old. It was funny the things they could watch for hours and never tire. He found himself wishing he still had that ability but he soon shook it off and simply returned to the living room with the coffee for Maria.

As he sat, he swallowed involuntarily as Maria pinned him with those eyes of hers and asked the question that most men dreaded." This girl of yours, why haven't you proposed? My sister wants grandchildren and you're her only hope, Joseph. You do know this, right?"

Joseph released a weary sigh, his Aunt had been in his home for all of ten minutes and already she was planning his children. He didn't answer and simply let his Aunt talk as he watched her. He knew Maria could talk for hours, especially when it came to his standing in life. There was no point trying to reason or argue with her, she would talk over him and win the argument that way.

Even her children knew to keep quiet and this was clear by how they mimicked Joseph's posture and expression. They all knew that they would be here for a long time.

The Way You Do the Things You Do [15 Nov 2004|04:35pm]
Milly risked an hour to drive back to the hotel room for a quick shower and a change of clothes. The realization that she hadn't been into work for the past couple of days also drove her to leave a message on Emmeline's answering machine before Milly drove back to the hospital. She came in with damp hair and proceeded back to Devon's room. She opened the door just a crack and quietly let herself back in.

Devon stirred awake at the sound of the door opening, his sense of hearing hadn't been damaged luckily enough. Very slowly, his green eyes opened and they came to fall on Milly." Hey." He murmured softly, his voice was deep and slightly throaty due to the fact he hadn't drank anything in the last couple of days. He shifted slowly so he was now sat up and he noticed for the first time in a while, nothing hurt. He hoped this meant, his healing had kicked in.

Prepped and Gone! [15 Nov 2004|05:23pm]

Claire smiled at Nyx as she turned around out of the closet with the little negligee that Jo had bought her dangling from her finger. She tossed it into the suitcase and nodded her head. "There, all packed!" She gave Nyx a wink and crossed her arms over her chest, tilting her head. "It's going to be so great to spend some 'us' time!"

Nyx chuckled and zipped Claire's bag shut for her. He folded one last pair of jeans into his own bag and shook his head with a grin. "I can't believe you thought to do this for us. It's amazingly sweet.. and we definitely need the time." His tone was soft, a little sad that life had been keeping them so busy lately. He crossed the room and wrapped her into a tight hug.

Short And Sweet [15 Nov 2004|11:13pm]
[ mood | relaxed ]

Matthew had only just got in from work, he hadn't even changed from his bar uniform. He was focused on dumping his bag and getting over to Jo's as soon as possible. This news about this vampire was disturbing to say the least. He made mental note to talk to the other Watchers, perhaps they would know something. Something Matthew didn't. He ran a hand through his already disruly dark hair before he moved back down the stairs to head back out of his home.

Jo reclined in a boot at the bar, having some time before opening the place up for business. She was smoking a cigarette and reading a book, just a plain old fiction book. No vampires, no deserts. Lost in the story being woven, she heard nothing going on around her, though she knew Nyx and Claire were upstairs.

Matthew shivered softly as the air seemed cooler somehow. He rubbed his fingers over his eyes as the bright colours seemed to burn his vision for a moment or two. Sometimes there were down-sides to seeing auras around things. He moved through Searchlight and weaved his way through some of the locals, ignoring the looks he recieved. Matthew finally came to a stop in front of the bar, his hand lifted to shade his vision before the index finger on his other hand curled and raised to knock against the pane of glass.

Jo looked up just as Matthew raised his hand and waved before his flesh could contact the glass. The wave was more of a gesture to come on in, the doors weren't locked, there was no point in it. She tucked a dollar bill into her book and laid it on the table, swinging her legs around so her feet were on the floor and she finished the cigarette, stubbing it out with a sigh.

He slipped inside and as he lifted his eyes, his many hours of not sleeping and reading not to mention researching showed by the dark rings beneath them. He moved around the tables before he dropped down onto the nearest stool." Hey." He commented simply.

Jo stood, stretching her entire body out slowly. A couple of cricks from the night before slipped loose and she smiled faintly as she went over to where Matthew had chosen to sit and just pulled him into a tight hug. "Hey." She noticed the signs of sleep lack and a lot of work and traced a fingertip just under his eyes lightly.

Matthew returned the hug." You got me." He commented with a faint smirk as Jo's finger ran under his eyes. The same eyes that filled with concern as he regarded her." Are you okay?" His hands rested against the small of her back, his thumbs moved in slow, soothing circles.

Jo's own blue eyes clouded briefly but cleared rapidly as she nodded. "He caught me off guard that one time. He can play stupid mind tricks all he wants, but he won't get me again." She frowned, the games bugged her a bit more than she was letting on. Innocent people were being harmed by his crap.

One hand moved from her back to slip into the hip pocket of his jeans. He then pulled a silver chain with a beautiful, delicate silver cross on the end of it. He held it up so it dangled between his fingers." Would you wear this?" He asked, it had been his mother's but he hadn't held it let alone looked at it since her death but he knew. A cross with some vampires had great power." And I'm going to talk to the other Watchers, see what they know about this vampire of yours."

Jo watched the light coming through the window as it glinted on the silver of the gorgeous cross he offered to her. Her voice softened as she answered his question, and she bowed her head. "I would be honored to Matthew." She nodded faintly about speaking with other Watchers, it was best to share information in a situation.

Matthew got to his feet and unlocked the clasp before he slipped it around her neck. He fastened it at the back before his fingers smoothed over it and his hand settled against her chest, above her beating heart." It suits you." He commented with a faint smile as his eyes turned towards the cross as it rested against her skin.

Jo was suddenly glad she'd gone with the v-necked tee shirt today, his hand warm against her skin. The metal of the cross warmed quickly as it rested there, and she smiled. "Thanks." She leaned up and gave him a gentle kiss hat spoke of missing him, and gratitude and understanding.

And Matthew returned the kiss in kind, the hand which rested against the cross now moved to rest against the side of Jo's neck as he continued to kiss her. He then drew away and regarded her closely, his eyes searching her own before he smiled." I think we should look into getting this place protected against creatures of a nefarious nature."

Jo sighed as the kiss ended, her hand over Matthew's lightly. "I would tend to agree, but that could cause problems in itself. I think we'll leave it till I can talk to Nyx and Claire about it." Another of those faint frowns creased her face. "They just left for Oregon. I'm not certain how long they'll be gone." One shoulder lifted before she leaned against him.

Matthew lifted both his arms to wrap around her. His hands caressed at her arms slowly." Okay, how about a temporary protection then? I don't like the thought of you by yourself with that thing lurking in the shadows." He moved a hand to stroke through her hair slowly.

Jo thought about protesting but she just laid her cheek against Matthw's collarbone lightly and smiled instead. "We can do that." She didn't really want to keep them all out though, some would give information and be useful. Hence having served Tristan in the first place. "My guard is high though."

He pressed a kiss to the top of her head." I know, I just worry. Can't help it, I'm a Watcher born and bred after all." He joked lightly for a moment before he simply squeezed her tight.

Jo laughed softly and squeezed him back gently before letting him go to glance at the clock. "It's time to open the doors to the general public." A sigh escaped as she watched him motionlessly for a minute.

" Do you really have to?" He asked in an affected pathetic tone before he leaned down to kiss her lightly." But if you insist, I can help. I'm dressed for it after all."

Jo laughed before she kissed him back slowly. "I do have to." She laughed again and shook her head. "You don't have to help, but you're welcome to hang around if you want." She looked over as Sparky walked in, right on time and took his usual seat. "See?"

Matthew dropped back down onto his stool." I see." He said with a nod of his head before he crossed his arms over the top of the counter. A yawn escaped him even as he tried to fight it.

Jo shook her head again, pressing her house keys into Matthew's hand as he slumped against the bar. "Why don't you go upstairs, shower, grab something of Nyx's to sleep in and crawl into bed for a nap?" She slipped around inside the bar and poured Sparky's beer, shushing him as he grumbled about unusually slow service.

Matthew curled his hands around the keys." Sounds like a good idea." He got to his feet before he trailed round to catch Jo's hand to pull her into a kiss." I'll see you later." He muttered softly before he vanished upstairs. His boots hitting the stairs echoed.

Jo smiled after she returned the kiss, watching him go up before she turned to take care of the handful of other customers that had wandered in since the place had opened up.
