Ballad for Dead Friends by Dashboard Prophets |

"...so I still don't know what that's about, but I plan to find out. Oh, he does? I'll have to keep that in mind, thanks for telling me. I'm sure he'll be thrilled." Dawn giggled, pacing along the living room floor barefoot. Just her luck, Connor's mother called right when she came in. An interesting discussion ensued, though Dawn knew she'd have to get as many details now before Connor found out about this.
Connor was just getting up, being mostly a nocturnal person, sleeping during the day was normal. He stretched, and yawned, running his fingers through his tousseled hair, and he headed for the living room where he could hear Dawn talking. He didn't hear other conversations though, so she was either talking to a ghost, the cat, or on the phone. He leaned in the doorframe in his pajama bottoms and saw her on the phone. He arched an eyebrow at her in silent question.
Dawn burst out laughing at...something, forcing herself to stop though the grin lingered on her face as she glanced up at Connor. "And he's awake. No, really! Sure, no problem. It was nice talking to you too!" Moving the receiver away from her mouth, Dawn arched an eyebrow at the tousseled, just waking Connor. "Oh, you're mom's on the phone. I was going to wake you but she said not to. Wanna talk to her?" ( you said what to my mom? ) ( giving good squirm ) ( Gwen the Slightly Off )

Boomkat - Wasting My Time |

Jo wandered down the stairs from the loft into the bar. It was semi quiet, the music turned down low, the lingering scent of cigarettes and alcohol caressing her face like a lover would. It made her smile to know she was part owner of this place, and that it was prospering well. She slipped behind the bar and leaned lightly against the inside of it. She'd just relieved Nyx silently, and he'd grinned and headed out to go do God only knew what.
When Shannan entered the Lighthouse, she was more frustrated with herself than she'd ever been. She'd screwed up miserably on her last shift. She'd gone to the occult shop, Unseen Insight, to do start asking some questions, only to chicken out. She'd perused the book shelves shyly and managed to leave for hotel room before being noticed. She'd stayed up most of the night wondering why she was acting like such a loser, and was managing to just barely exist in her sleep deprived state. But she was determined not to drop anything on this shift.
( Watching.. ) ( We Need To Talk ) ( I Don't Know What To Tell You )
That.. is strange. I think I'll talk to Matthew when I see him next, see if he's heard of this before. The rest of the shift was fairly uneventful, as is normal. Sometimes I wish for a rowdy bunch to come in and try for trouble, but then I think of that vampire that came in here and took me out like so much trash.. and I'm glad it stays quiet.

Death by paperwork, is that even possible? If it is, Searchlight would be the first place to have a case of it aka me.
Then again, Searchlight has a lot of first time cases, well for me they do.
Still no further forward. I feel like a car that's permanently stuck in the mud, I keep trying to move forward. Break free and get back on the road but I can't. I just can't.
The more I push, the more I get stuck. It's catch 22. Gotta love it.
Anyways, I'd better go.
I have a young man to talk to, he was seen running from the murder scene.

------ Non Journal Entry ------
" Tsk, tsk, what happened to you now, Bastion?"
Bethany's familiar voice crooned from the open doorway that led to the room where the rather large demon was recuperating. She got nothing as a response to her question and so Bethany peered around the door. Her brown eyes shaded by purple glasses and her long blonde hair was tied loosely behind her head. Her pink glossy lips curled into a slow, almost smug smile as she met Bastion's irritated gaze.
Of course this didn't phase Bethany whatsoever and she simply straightened her back and pushed away from the wall. Surprisingly enough, she was dressed rather casually for her. A pair of simple black slacks and a blue top that was slanted across the front of her chest so her breasts were hinted at and not revealed at the same time. On her feet, she wore a pair of blue very simple flip-flops. Her nails were painted a soft shade of purple and every bit of the woman matched her outfit. She was as always, very tasteful.
She turned slowly to enter the room but before she did, she paused in the centre of the doorway and lifted one arm to rest against the wood. Her other hand rested lightly against her hip and one of those slim eyebrows arched upwards. Almost as if she were asking the question all over again.
Bastion shifted in his bed, the same bed, Bethany had provided for him. A fact he seemed to have forgotten in the last few hours." Slayer." He said simply, monosyllabic was not the word for him today. He was usually such a sociable creature and Bethany couldn't help but wonder what this Slayer had done which would have caused her demon friend to act this way.
" Oh really now?" Bethany practically purred as she wandered into the room. The fragrance of fresh flowers and peach hung in the air as she paused to consider Bastion." What did this Slayer look like?"
" Dark hair, dark eyes and brown skin." Bastion answered in a grunt before he seemed to pause to consider something." Didn't seem to be on the ball. Kind of distant to begin with but once she had that dagger..."
Bethany cut in at this point." She kicked your ass." She was given a dark glare, a glare she simply laughed at before rolling her eyes." So, where exactly did she hit you?"
Bastion looked distinctly uncomfortable at this point and Bethany was sure she could detect a blush." In my side."
" Which one?" She asked simply.
Bastion looked away before he gave his answer." Right."
Bethany at this point laughed before coughing to stop herself as Bastion glared at her once more." That's such a pity. How are the..ladies taking it?" She inquired with a sickening sweet smile before that smile turned into a thin line and she looked serious. " Enough fun and games, tell me about the mines."
Bastion nodded his head and gestured for Bethany to come closer which she did by drawing up a chair.

( City of Sin )
Well well, the city of sin lives up to it's name. I believe this will become my new home. Now to find a place to call it thus. The group of vampires had a warehouse. I believe they will provide me with a place to live. I've given my money as initiation. What fools are being made into vampires these days. It's a crying shame.

And into the Lighthouse again walked it's bouncer as Connor headed in to check in on Nyx. He hadn't seen him in ages, and he wanted to know if a few nights off would be ok depending on how long Gwen's snit lasted.
Nyx sat on a stool behind the bar, reading a Las Vegas paper and listening to Howie Day play on the stereo system. He had a bottle of Stewart's soda nearby and a completely empty bar room around him. Apparently, the locals preferred the female tenders to himself.
