I'm Coming Home To You [27 Oct 2004|12:04am]
[ mood | satisfied ]

Rhiannon stood in front of her dresser, fastening her silver bracelet into place. She ran her fingertips over the charms and glanced out the window. It was dark now, and Joseph could be there at any moment. It had suddenly seemed very important to her that she not look like something the cat had dragged in, as she'd probably been looking all week. She'd changed into a charcoal-colored tank top and black pants, put on a bit of eye make-up, and dabbed the smallest amount of perfume behind her ears. She turned away from the dresser and folded her arms, leaning against a window that looked out over the back of the complex, towards the desert.

Joseph pulled his car to a stop outside of Rhiannon's apartment. He had left it in airport parking until he got back and he was glad he had. He yawned for a moment before he slipped his shades off and removed the necklace around his neck. He rested it down on the dashboard and after another moment, he stepped out of the car. That plane trip had been too long, even with the nap he had taken between stops. He straightened his back and shut the door before he leaned down to lock up the car. The keys went back into his pockets and his arms stretched above his head. His fingers linked together and he clicked each one as he flexed both his hands. He flexed his neck from side to side before he wandered up to the door. Now did he or didn't he knock? He went for the knock.

As much as she'd been anticipating it, the knock still made her flinch. Why am I nervous? she wondered. Maybe it was because it felt like a lifetime since she'd seen him, or because she was genuinely scared for him, for whatever he'd had to do. Not because it would change her heart, but because it could change him, and everything he wanted to leave behind. She turned away from the bedroom window and rubbed her upper arms as she headed towards the front of the apartment. Rhiannon reached for the handle and pulled it open.

Joseph still had his hand raised up from the knock as the door opened. As it did, he smiled slowly when his eyes came to rest on Rhiannon. He didn't say a word. He simply stepped into the house, placed his hands on either side of her face and drew her close to him as he kissed her. The kiss spoke volumes for the way he was feeling right now. Passionate, loving, tender, possessive. Different emotions all rolled into this one kiss. A week was a very long time.

Rhiannon blinked at the sight of him-- bruises, cuts, abrasions-- and a knot formed in the center of her chest. But then he was reaching for her, and she wrapped her arms around his neck and just held on tight, kissing him back with all of her heart. Her fingers found their way into his short hair. It felt so different between her fingers.

He kissed her for a very long moment before he finally drew away and his forehead rested against hers." Hey." He whispered softly. His dark eyes lifted to rest on hers. One eye was badly bruised and up until a day or so ago, had been shut and he hadn't been able to open it at all.

Rhiannon took a deep breath as she looked into his eyes. As much as she thought she'd missed him before, that feeling was multiplied now. How could you miss someone more when you held them in your arms again, than you had when they'd been away? "Joseph," she whispered, lifting a hand to the side of his face. Her thumb ran just beneath his bruised eye. She leaned up to brush her lips against it. "What happened?"

Rhiannon simply smiled to that and leaned up to kiss him again, letting her lips linger over his.  She lowered her head back to the pillow and suppressed a grin.  "By the way.... you sure you haven't stripped before?"  Her hands slid down to cover his backside and give it a playful squeeze.  "Those weren't the moves of an amateur."

" I've learnt a few things over the years." He answered with that grin of his. The very confident one he used most of the time." Glad you enjoyed it. Maybe I'll do it again sometime?" He tangled his legs with hers and his grin softened into a smile.

"Maybe next time I'll join you," she said, lifting up to nudge his nose with her own.  Her arms tightened around his back, pulling his chest down to hers.  She needed to feel him close tonight.

As her arms went around his back, his went around her shoulders and he drew her close. He smirked softly before he nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck." Sounds good." He muttered in a slightly drowsy tone.

Rhiannon turned to press a kiss to his temple.  One of her hands found the blanket that had shifted to the side of the bed.  She pulled it over them both.  "I love you," she whispered before closing her eyes.  There was no better sleep than when he was there.

Alone Even When Not [27 Oct 2004|12:06am]
[ mood | lonely ]

It was one of those pool halls where your feet stuck to the floor. Tristan didn't know if it was beer, piss, or entrails, and he didn't actually care. He squinted into the darkened hall, cigar and cigarette smoke polluting the air. It didn't take long before he had a beer in one hand, and a cue stick in the other.

Tristan was practically a pool shark. In his younger days, before he'd been turned, he spent many nights with his fellow dock workers inside pool halls such as this, racking and breaking, betting and winning. He often would walk out with full pockets, and a girl on his arm.

Tonight he was on the prowl. The game and winning money didn't concern him. No, tonight his score would be later. After he had beaten a few of the local sharks, it didn't take long for him to catch the eye of several different ladies. His favor fell on the dark haired vixen. When he squinted, and had consumed enough beer, she reminded him of Rhiannon. He had come here to escape her, but that just wasn't to be.

He plied the young lady with drink after drink. She didn't really know how to play pool, so Tristan found his arms around her several times, adjusting the cue stick just right. She'd back up against him, wiggling her bottom against him. He wasn't fooled, but he also didn't care.

When she was so drunk she could hardly stand, she grabbed his hand and gave him that knowing smile. He gazed at her full red lips, and the fire in her eyes. He wanted her to be someone else. The demon in him stirred, and he almost cursed her name as the girl pulled him out into the night.

Moments later they entered her hotel room. He had hesitated at the door, and she had smiled, flinging her hair over her shoulder. "Well what are you waiting for, big boy, come on in." He had grinned then, and slowly sauntered through the threshold, slamming the door behind him.

Upon Her Invitation...NC17 )

When he was spent, and had drank his fill, he slowly got up and wandered into her shower. He rinsed off the blood, and the smell of her. He closed his eyes under the spray. He felt no remorse, but he also felt no comfort.

Without a glance back, he dressed and left the room, returning alone into the night.

When it rains, it pours. [27 Oct 2004|12:22am]
Claire changed the bandage on her thumb for the twentieth time that day, replaced her rubber gloves, and started washing the bar glasses. The place was quiet so far. Tuesday nights could get pretty hectic, but it was early yet. She smiled at one of the locals and refilled his beer.

Shannan knew as she sauntered down the streets of Searchlight, that she desperately needed money. She'd paid the cabby half of the fare (it made sense, all things considering). She'd had a room at a hotel for the night. She still had a couple hundred bucks left over, but that wouldn't last long. Shannan Flannigan needed a job, a daunting thought considering she'd only ever worked at a fast food joint part time, and she didn't exactly have references, but there wasn't much she could do about that. She just had to suck it up. With that in mind, she braced herself before entering the first place she saw that was hiring. The Lighthouse Bar.

The Great Job Party Begins )

Claire scrutinized the girl. Martial arts? Could she be a slayer too? Claire came out from behind the bar and took a seat, gesturing to Shannan to do the same. "What brings you to Searchlight?"

Crap, Shannan thought as she sat down nervously. She hadn't thought of a plausible reason for the sake of local curiousity. She had snobishly figured it wasn't anybody else's business, but she could see now that was foolish. Making it up as she went along, Shannan began to say, rather unconvincingly, "I'm looking into some history. Yeah, personal history." She felt she was on a role. "Personal family history is all. My guardian said here'd be the best place for me to find the answers I need." There. Somewhat true. Kind of.

Claire nodded, smiling, not convinced in the slightest that Shannan was telling her the entire truth. "Are you of age? Minor's are not permitted behind the bar." Claire vaguely wondered if she should take the stake that was hidden in her pocket and play with it in her hands, thus illiciting some kind of response from Shannan. If she was a slayer, she'd recognize the weapon.

Shannan considered lying. Bartenders probably made more money, and boy did she need it! But weighing her options it didn't seem to smart to lie. After all the times Cadence had known what Shannan had been up to despite the teen's lies Shannan figured that she probably wasn't very good at deception. And besides, Shannan looked like she was twelve anyways. Who the hell would believe her to be legal? "I'll be eighteen in December."

"Well, you won't be able to bartend then, but you could still be a cocktail waitress." Claire did take the stake out then, turning it around in her hands as if inspecting the wood. She could always say it was like a billy club to be used on the angry drunks. That thought almost caused her to giggle. "Jo and Nyx are expected shortly. We'll have to discuss this with them."

Shannan might've asked who Jo and Nyx were had she been paying attention to a word the woman was saying. As soon as she had taken out the stake, Shannan was transfixed. Shocked, she stared at the weapon unabashedly. "That's a--" She couldn't even finish the thought outloud. Was there really such an influx of demonic activity in Searchlight that even bartenders had to walk around packing heat?

Enter Jo )

Enter Nathan )

Enter Nyx )

Enter Ray )

Two beers, one purple pussy, and a coke )

And thus, the Lighthouse Bar was staffed )

Claire hurried over and kissed Nyx on the cheek. "Nice meeting all of you. Welcome to the family." She gave them a little wave.

Jo laughed and went over to the crowd of new staff with a smile. "As she said, welcome. I like you all, and that's saying something. We'll work out a schedule if you all write your availability down for us."

Ray smirked and grabbed a napkin off the bar, writing "Availability: ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME" on it. She pushed it over to Jo. "There you go, boss."

Shannan was distracted once more by the presence of the wooden stake in Claire's hand, but decided against saying anything. She worked for Claire now. She's find out what was what soon enough.

Nyx grinned and squeezed Claire lightly before sitting down on a stool. "You two going to go do that thing?" He knew they were going to patrol, and he noted Shannan's attention to the stake. He'd discuss it with her later.

Jo chuckled at Ray and nodded as she got ready to head out with Claire. "Excellent, we'll see you all later then.. Nyx, you can handle this right?"

Nyx nodded at Claire and Jo and rested his elbows on the bar. "How hard can it be? Especially with folks like this.. you two be safe." A pointed look at Jo.

Claire quirked an eyebrow at Nyx. "That thing?" She smirked and nodded. "Yup, we're off. You all have a great night."

"Good evening, ladies. Do be careful." Nathan called out as they departed into the night.

"We will. Don't worry." Claire blew him a kiss and held the door open for Jo.

Jo sauntered out into the night, waving over her shoulder at everyone.

Will they.. or wont they? [27 Oct 2004|12:30am]

Standing outside the bedroom window of Lexi's place once again, Gwen paused for a moment before knocking. She was dressed in skintight blue jeans, her usual combat boots, and a black baby tee with the simple words "fuck you" printed on it. She nibbled her bottom lip nervously, before knocking three times, in a firm, slow manner.

Alexis sat up in bed, tossing the covers aside. She rubbed her eyes a bit before standing up, knowing full well who was at the window. "I don't remember requesting a wake up call," she said teasingly as she slid open the window. She leaned out to catch Gwen's lips in an uncharacteristically soft kiss.

For once, Gwen was almost scared by the kiss, trembling a bit, rather than being her usual aggressive self. She returned the kiss briefly, then pulled away slightly. "Lex... we... we really need to talk." She seemed scared, not at all the person Lexi knew.

Alexis looked a bit worried, and her mind instantly went through a list of worse and worse-er case scenarios. "Yeah...sure, Gwen." She opened the window the rest of the way and stepped back so the girl could enter.

Hopping in, Gwen began pacing back and forth. "Look. I have NO idea how yer gonna react to this, but... dont be afraid of hurting me.... I just need to know your thoughts. I.... I thought I could be just... 'fuck buddies' with you... but I cant. My whole life, I ain't never loved anyone. But I'm falling in love with you, Lexi. I think about you constantly... and... I guess I need to know how you feel."

Alexis stared at Gwen for a moment. "I....I think...." She sat down on the bed. "I'm thinking holy fuck is what I'm thinking. Wondering what I did to deserve to be loved by someone else." She shook her head. "Especially someone like you."

Gwen actually trembled a bit, and shook her head. "I know you said yer not really a relationship person... and hell, I've never even dated a girl before... and if yer not ready for a relationship, I understand.
But... I just need to know. So I can either go headlong into this... or try to move on. I cant go on like this. I havent slept in a week."

Alexis crossed the room to where Gwen stood. She placed her hand gently on the girl's cheek. "The problem with me is....I'm not sure what love is. I mean, I know....but I don't know how it feels. But I know that when I'm with you...it's like I don't even have to think. Of what to say, of what to do, of what to want. And that's the best way that I can describe just what it is you do to me."

Gwen gulped nervously, steeling herself enough to speak again. "What I need to know is.... where is this going? Are we just friends? Or do you wanna be more? I... I cant do both. Not anymore."

Alexis looked down, her forehead against Gwen's. She grasped one of the girl's hands with her own. "I can do...whatever you want to do. I feel like I can forget every single stupid bullshit I ever uttered about not being the relationship girl. But Gwen....I'm afraid. And I'm gonna be afraid for awhile. Maybe one day I'll wake and I won't be. Of anything. And that day is the day when I can answer that question. We're going somewhere. I just don't know where."

"So..." Gwen stammered a bit, as though the air had been knocked out of her. "So for now.... we're just friends?"

"No. We're not." She kissed her forehead. "We're...us. We're together now. I think we have been for awhile now. We just couldn't say it out loud. Not sure if I can even now. We're something more. How's that?"

Gwen smiled, looking at peace for the first time in over a week, wrapping her arms around Lexi tightly, whispering into her ear. "That...that's absolutely perfect."

[27 Oct 2004|01:18am]
It was early in the evening once Connor had slipped out, and Dawn took the opportunity to do likewise. Not that she didn't love his company -she did- but staying in the duplex for several days straight as she healed had made her stir-crazy. Might as well get in a short walk and gather her thoughts, alone for once. Slipping into street clothes and grabbing her jacket, stake and that butterfly knife Connor gave her, Dawn glanced around before closing the door behind her. Taking an appreciative deep breath of air, Dawn paced off the porch and headed down the steps. At first she had no idea where she was heading to, just a walk...tempted to pass the cemetery, she decided to give it a pass. Mended though she was, Dawn knew she still wasn't in much condition for actual patrolling. Instead, she turned her steps toward the center of town. Might as well stop by that bookstore and pick up anything research-worthy. Or more folktales that Illyria might like.

Eyes flicked up in one calm motion. There was another brunette in that shop of books, standing there, a tome open in hands as she browsed through it. Clothing casual, but white in primary colour. It was a thick volume, with typically esoteric title, looking like it would be more useful as a training weight than actual reading material, but the other female seemed to hold it with ease. A slight, almost ghost of a smile passed fleetingly over lips in what amounted to a greeting and attention returned to the book.

Gwen, and some good news [27 Oct 2004|01:24am]
Dawn was stretched out on the couch, listening to something from Dynamite Hack blaring from her laptop on the floor, which happened to be littered with various tomes and such. She glanced briefly to make sure her latest research project was still downloading, then curled up, tempted to nap. Even after mostly, she was still tired a good part of the day...

Just then, a LOUD, rapid knock was heard at the door. "YO! DAWN! LEMME IN!"

Dawn jumped and quickly sat up, wide-eyed. That certainly startled her out of her reverie, not to mention that was a rather urgent tone. Darting to the door, she opened it and stepped aside for Gwen. "Come in, are you alright?" Frowning concernedly as she wondered what this was about.

Gwen darted in like a bat out of hell, a HUGE grin tugging at the sides of her mouth. She grabbed Dawn, pulling her into a tight hug, kinda forgetting her strength for a moment.

Dawn was about to add on an explaination for the warding spell Gwen saw last night, though Gwen's hug pretty much took the air out of her hugs. Surprised at that as much as the complete change of mood from last night, Dawn nevertheless gathered her wits enough to hug back.

Gwen took a step back, now dressed in camo cut-offs, fishnets, her usual combat boots, and a sleeveless Shadows Fall tee. "Dude! I did it! I talked to Lexi!"

Dawn grinned at that, stepping back to allow Gwen further inside, kicking the door closed. "And...? Do tell!" Though by Gwen's look, that had to have ended well enough.

"It was the SCARIEST thing I've ever done, yo!" Gwen literally HOPPED onto the couch, plopping down like a little kid. "I laid it all out, told her how I felt, and well... she was scared as shit, but she agreed we have something special, and need to give it a chance!" A beaming smile was on Gwen's face now, her eyes lit up like stars on a summer night. "I had to tell you and Connor first!"

Immediately joining Gwen on the couch, she didn't even bother to move the mess aside. Gwen and her announcement so deserved her attention than musty books did. "That's awesome, Gwen! Wow, I'm so happy for you! Fortune favors the bold, eh?" Grinning, Dawn had to give her another hug for that.

"Hell yes!" Gwen nodded, her dirty-blonde hair falling into her face momentarily before she reached up and brushed it aside. "I feel like for the first time in a week, I might actually sleep tonight! I came straight here after we got done talking. Well, after a stop home to change."

"Glad you did, I was worried about you. Connor too, though he's not actually in at the moment. I'll be sure to tell him though, unless it'd kill you not to say it first." Dawn smiled, leaning into the side of the couch though more awake than she thought she was capable of, thanks to Gwen.

"Naw, you can TOTALLY tell him. I kinda need to go anyway... before Mich thinks I died or something. I guess I gotta go back sometime, right?" Gwen shrugged, looking around.

Dawn nodded, a little disappointed though she expected as much and really should be getting back to her work anyway. "True enough, though you can always come back here. You won't need to worry about barriers since we already invited you, so feel free to barge in any time." And she meant that by her look, not one to make insincere offers.

"I promise, I'll stop by tomorrow. We definitely need to BS more, ya know?" Gwen gave a cute smirk, hopping up with catlike grace.

Kris had decided Eddy needed to get out of the house more. He was turning into the dog equivalent of a couch potato. She smirked as she thought to "The Fifth Element" and Bruce Willis' comment to his cat. It was how she felt about Eddy at the moment. She was dressed in a pair of baggy black pants which hugged her hips and a blue tanktop. Dark shades covered her eyes and her boots crunched at the sand beneath her feet. In her hand, she held a frisbeee. A frisbee she threw only to have returned to her by Eddy himself. It was a pretty nice, quiet day in the town of Searchlight.

Jackson surveyed the streets, hands in the pockets of his jeans, taking note that everything looked about the same as it had two months ago. A block away, he could see a familiar four legged friend chasing a frisbee. He whistled, trying to get the pup's attention.

Mich took her letter, refolded and back in its envelope and got in the car. She reved the engine as she started it and backed out, heading for town. The note scared her just slightly, and she wanted to know if anyone might know what it was about. A short time later, she was pulling up in front of Unseen Insight and parking the car.. though she remained behind the wheel for a few minutes, gathering herself.

Emmy found herself unusually bored with her daily routine, and sat at her Tarot table - stripped of its cloth that had become unduly coated in hardened wax dripped from candles - spinning copper pennies from her jar on the hard surface and watching them until they fell.
"For the number of people I pay to work here, it's certainly empty a lot!" she commented loudly to the books and the merchandise, which stared back at her but refused to reply.

Emmy frowned, returning to the table and sitting down with a somewhat worried look in her eyes.

Plotting [27 Oct 2004|08:38pm]
Jason looked down at his watch, and saw it was just after noon. He stood outside Beth's place of business, and looked across the street at the car parked there. Shaking his head, he walked up to the man standing outside. "I'm here to see Miss Richards. Tell her Jason Toren is here to see her."

Bethany was lost in the world she had created. She had two demons in her office and they were hammering out a new deal, a deal which was better suited to their and her own needs. She was dressed in a black silk suit. The pants complimented her legs, the jacket clung to her waist and that was about the only thing she was wearing on top. No shirt, no t-shirt, no nothing. A beautiful black and silver choker clung to the pale skin of her neck and her blonde hair was bundled away from her face. Her lips now a shade of red curled into a satisfied smile as she took the papers off her clients and she saw them to the door. As she did, Ralphael caught her arm and whispered in her ear. She nodded her head." Show him in." She turned to walk back into her office, the stiletto heels clicked across the ground as she did. She paused beside her filing cabinet and crouched for a moment as she placed the file away, a ringlet of blonde hair fell across her face as she did this.

Plans for the future )

Bethany grinned slowly. A rather calculating look overcame her." All in good time."

"And a good time it will be. We have a lot to work through to set this up, but when we do, it will be a fun time, oh, yes indeed." Jason looked at her. This was going to be a lot of fun, oh yes.

William turned his key in the lock of the door of his house. He had spent the past few days in Las Vegas, getting intelligence on this club she had been at when she was attacked. He gathered what he could, and then headed back home, leaving a private investigator to watch the place. After visiting Jordan, he headed right home. He pushed the door open and, still leaning on his cane, headed inside.

Destiny was oblivious to the door opening. Wearing a tank top and a pair of shorts that said "Kiss it" on the ass, she danced with sock-clad feet. "Cotton-Eyed-Joe" came on and she switched from the seductive dance of the previous song to the line dancing of this one. She sang loudly with her eyes closed, using nearby furniture as dancing partners, then as spectators.

William smiled at her, and his face lit up. "It is not your fault at all, Destiny. I walked in front of the demon. My fault entirely. Don't feel bad about it. I'm a grown man who makes his own dumb choices."

Destiny lifted her head and smiled back. "I already lost a great guy. Don't let me lose another one. Okay? Don't go dying when I'm not around to save you." She opened the door and motioned for him to go first.

William went in, and smiled back at her. "I can't die now. If I did, Emmeline would find a way to bring me back so you, she, and Jordan could all kick my, as you so put it, 'pasty British butt.'"

"I did NOT say that!" Destiny opened her mouth in abject horror. "I've never seen your butt--unlike Jordan." She smirked and laughed, running past him and up the stairs.

New Face [27 Oct 2004|11:36pm]
[ mood | chipper ]

Kris yawned as she wandered into the small, local diner. Her hands were on the back of her neck and her fingers were wrapped around dark strands of hair. Her brown eyes swept from right to left as she took in the locals as they glared at her." Good to see things are back to normal." She muttered to herself before she tugged at her blue tank top and adjusted the belt holding up her black, baggy pants. She wandered into the diner, her boots made a slight squeak against the ground before it ceased as she slipped onto a nearby stool. She briefly wondered how long it would take to be served. She put her bet on fifteen to thirty minutes.

Having driven around the town 5 times, entertained himself by sitting near an old lady and talking about jockstraps, and then driven around the town again...Emerian pouted slightly, his to do list for the day already finished. The black camero pulled into the next lot and he parked, peering through the windshield. A diner. How quaint. The brunette sighed, running his hands through his long hair. As he made his way into the establishment he looked down at his low-slung black jeans and his fitted black tank top, pulling it down a bit and adjusting the dark blue button down left open over his outfit. Shaking his head he slipped onto the nearest stool, looking around and tucking his hair behind his ear, exposing the double piercings there. After a pause he looked to the female at his side. "Food good here then?" The lilting Irish accent strong yet filled with the polite Irish charm.

Kris turned her head and her eyes came to fall on an attractive dark haired man. She had to laugh slightly at his question." Hm, you must have this place confused with some place else." She teased in a low voice so only he could hear her. She knew the waitresses and locals didn't take kindly to anyone putting down their establishment. She slipped her right leg over her left and moved her foot in the air as she drummed her fingers against the counter. She was trying to get attention.

Kris smiled as she watched Emery." It was nice to meet you Emery and I'm sure I'll see you around. Not like I'm going anywhere." She said with a faint laugh before she offered him a wink." Take care and watch yourself alright? The shadows aren't safe." She said in a warning tone. Kris had no idea if this guy knew about the other world this town became when the sun went down but a friendly warning wouldn't hurt.

Smiling and nodding he offered a soft. "Sometimes it's the light you have to watch out for." With those parting words he waggled his fingers and  made his way out of the Diner, his doc martins quiet against the floor. He stopped to look back over his shoulder at Kris before smiling once more and pushing open the door and stepping out into the outside world.
